National Volunteer Week- April 21-27, 2013

USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service is celebrating National Volunteer Week April 21-27 by thanking and honoring its Earth Team volunteers for their service to conservation.  NRCS in Minnesota values the effort these volunteers have made in assisting our NRCS offices in Helping People Help the Land.

Earth Team volunteers work closely with our NRCS staff and they play an important role in our state’s conservation work.In 2012, Minnesota’s Earth Team Volunteers worked over 21,211.95 hours.  These volunteers worked on several projects including surveying for conservation practices; community outreach; exhibiting at venues; writing stories and much more.

This year’s theme for 2013 National Volunteer Week is “Celebrate Volunteers.”   If you are interested in learning more about the Earth Team Volunteer Program check out the information online at:  http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/wps/portal/nrcs/main/national/people/voluneers  or stop by an NRCS office in Minnesota.
